Jesus loves everyone or does he?

But say it anyway.I am really curious about how do you explain this story.Besides, why do you need to change ones opinion in order to discuss such things? Tell your explaination and leave other people to decide wich opinion is more rational.(of course if you believe your explaination is rational..)

Is that matter? At those times calling someone as dog was a compliment yes.
Actually This is just a repetition of usual jewish racism. You can't justify this story no matter what.
And its in Matthew 15:22-28
Quote:This is a classic piece of Scripture that Christians, like me, would have heard preached about (probably poorly much of the time) growing up "in the faith". I would imagine most "active Christians" are aware of this verse, though maybe less would understand it?
Story is about knowing your place not faith. Jews are masters you are their dog. Its not faith its the submission of a slave.

Exactly why do you think that this is not about faith as I see the story it is only about faith. Jesus used this situation to prove something to His disciples "faith".
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I havent done any research into it or anything, but this is how I see the story...

This story got me thinking, 'Why would Jesus call someone a dog?' He spends quite a bit of time with the gentiles, this story makes no sense! Perhaps Jesus was bipolar? On one hand, talking to a Samaritan woman (who the jews HATED) and then calling a gentile a dog! What is up with Jesus?

The answer is found in Romans, I believe so anyways
Romans 15:25-27
25Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the saints there. 26For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. 27They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.

I believe Jesus was playing on a popular philosophy, gentiles were the scumb of the Earth!
Jews were God's chosen people! Why should they get any blessings or miracles?
Yet the gentile woman, contends with Jesus, this is what I find remarkable!
She has the audicty to contend with a rabbi/prophet?!? She must of been crazy! Yet, she still does and it pays off for her.
As you can see a lot of Jews, even Paul, believed that the gentiles were given the crumbs, not the food off the table.
Christians and Atheists need to becareful how they interpret scipture, it comes with 21 centuries of philosphical and theological baggage!
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.

why indeed? If he is perfectly good why he said these things to a poor woman who is in desperate need of help? The only rational explaination is becouse he is a racist bastard. And why are you trying to justify this action?
Actually this story is the proof that christianity was a jewish-only religion at it's begining. Through time it became universal..

So you're saying sciptures are not reliable? Then why do you believe something that can mislead you?
You can become a deist if you believe in there is a god. Make your own rules, don't believe in something written 2000 years ago! Why are you forcing yourself to believe in christianity?

Really? Now you are interpretting the scriptures like a fundamentalist would. Have you read the New Testament before?

Mathew 28:
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Was Jesus a racist so and so?

Acts 1:
7He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

You dont have any evidence to prove Jesus was racist...

Quote:So you're saying sciptures are not reliable?
The scriptures are very reliable, I dont contend with them, but the interpretation...

Quote:Then why do you believe something that can mislead you?
The Bible should be read as a Jew or an early Christian would of read it, now how we translate it after x amount of creeds and schisms and reformations.
Have you read, 'War of the worlds' We would think it was a ridiculous idea that aliens would come from Mars and destroy the world, yet many people (including scientists) believed there was intelligent and technologically advanced aliens on Mars...
Looking at any piece of literature or book, one has to look at the context, the original language and how an early christian would of understood the text. It just means Christians have to a little more thinking, than running to their pastors...

Quote:You can become a deist if you believe in there is a god. Make your own rules, don't believe in something written 2000 years ago! Why are you forcing yourself to believe in christianity?

Simple answer: Jesus died and rose again. I can't discredit the evidence.
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.

What evidence is that? The lunatic ramblings of later "followers?"

Do you know what the Jews thought the Messiah was going to do???

lets see..

Jesus:"I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."--->racist.
Jesus:"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations"--->not racist.

This, my friend, what we call contradiction. And obvious one.
I have been reading the bible for some time and I am telling what I see. If fundemantelists are telling the obvious instead of making excuses for it. Its not so bad to be fundamentalistTongue

Quote:The scriptures are very reliable, I dont contend with them, but the interpretation...
But if they are very reliable. Why their interpretations differs? If you want to discuss it answer my questions in the thread: "To those who believe Bible is not literal" ..

Quote:Have you read, 'War of the worlds' We would think it was a ridiculous idea that aliens would come from Mars and destroy the world, yet many people (including scientists) believed there was intelligent and technologically advanced aliens on Mars...
But it was obviously fiction and even believers could admit that its fiction. Why? Becouse there was no evidence to prove it. Today we have undeniable evidences to prove that there is no life in mars. And of course you can believe something ridiculous without any evidence. But it wouldn't be a rational thing to do don't you think? Especially if you accept that it could mislead you.. You dont have any evidence to separate your beliefs from scientologists.
Quote:Simple answer: Jesus died and rose again. I can't discredit the evidence.
What evidence is that I might ask? "Bible said so" doesn't count you know.. I am anxiously waiting for you to show me that evidence...
