Some are OK, (mindfulness, vegies, pacifist, .....), some are kooky but benign, one is potentially dangerous.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Atheist, not spiritual. I don't hold with any new age crap or pseudo-science. You mentioned essential oils, I have been learning about how these can help animals and this is a genuine thing. I'm sure there's also a lot of bogus claims made about them as well. Anything that doesn't survive scientific scrutiny, or won't even be put forward for it, can fuck off.

I think new age stuff is almost as dumb as religion, but probably less harmful. If that's what someone is into that's fine with me, as long as they're not hurting anyone. I'm vegan for purely moral reasons.

I think as with a lot of this stuff, there is some truth to it. There's something to the ideas behind the Law of Attraction - but it's not some mystical spooky b.s. It's basically the whole 'you get what you give' mentality.

With essential oils - I'm sure there are some benefits to some essentials oils, but do they perform the miracles some of these folks want you to think they do? I doubt it.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.

It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.

Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll

I just found a second plug in air freshener !!!

I wondered why the place still reeked.

I don't think Emergency Auxiliary Backup Cat #2 was too thrilled with it either.

I don't consider myself a "spiritual" person.

I do have essential oils, but only because I love the way they smell.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

As with many woo terms, I have no idea what "spiritual" actually means. Obviously, it can be metaphorical. But when people try to use it literally it seems to mean arbitrarily assigning special meaning to experiences. I guess they find life too boring.

I haven't heard what kind of claims such people have made, but if they are akin to miracles then of course it's nonsense. For animals they act as herbal remedies. The interesting thing is that the animals select the oils they need themselves, they instinctively know. It must be left over from their wild ancestors. We're using them with our dog and the effects are certainly noticable.

I try to practice mindfulness, but not for reasons that I would call "spiritual." Mostly it's to tidy up loose thoughts and get a more intense experience of everyday reality, not to transcend it.
