Which morals?

The prevailing view here is that morals are subjective. I, personally, define as morallly right those things that create and sustain human wellbeing and morally wrong those that create suffering. I try to navigate the world with that in mind, generally speaking.

Well, I don't think I described it right. I know the importance of morals, but I can't seem to convince myself. It goes on and off, one part of the day I'll be worrying about it, the other part of the day I wouldn't have any dispute with myself about it. I dunno.

Christianity. Before I went "full-on agnostic" I was a sort of hybrid of Baptist and UCC beliefs.

Ha ha, I always thought Mormonism in itself was ludicrous.

Oh it is.

I've really studied it.

And it's clear, from some subtle and not so subtle pieces of evidence, the current Mormon hierarchy knows it's a pile of crap too.


The really incredible thing is, the Mormons felt God had commanded them to be a record keeping people, so they've documented everything. And then here's the funny bit; almost from day 1, at one time or another, they published all, or enough of it to condemn the whole movement.

And this is how it applies to you and should go far in making you comfortable in your own skin as questioning/agnostic/atheist:

Since Mormonism is recent, and spilled the beans on all the back room chicanery and skullduggery as to how they cobbled their religion together, you can see the "Let's Start Our Own Religion" textbook in how and why they did everything they did, and how it applies to all the other religions too!!

A thorough look and subsequent realization that Mormonism is 100% total crap shines a light as to how all the other older religions did it too. There is nothing special about the Mormon playbook, they just fucked up royally by following it so transparently and publishing every jot and tittle of their escapades along the way.

Mormon history doesn't just condemn Mormonism, it TAINTS all faith.

I think if the religious folks that opposed Mormonism in it's early years had understood better the peril Mormonism placed all faiths in, they would have tried a little harder to exterminate it.

Thanks for this. Yeah, I mean, the founder/"prophet" supposedly used some sort of magical seeing-eye glasses to uncover some 2,000 year or so manuscript by the help of an angel that randomly appeared to him in the middle of a park or something at night. But yeah. again, thanks a bunch.
