GPU = DEAD
#1
GPU = DEAD
I booted up my laptop this morning, and was greeted with a login screen that looked like it had been hit with a sledgehammer. Once I logged in, I rebuilt the graphics drivers, and restarted. I think the restart killed it even more, because nothing (not even the bios, kernel, bootloader, etc) loaded (blank screens).

What is odd that whilst nothing displays for 10 seconds or so, the OS login comes up fine (although it is "shattered" beyond recognition), so the CPU appears to be working fine. This is either a problem with the GPU or the graphics card, but seeing as the graphics card was working fine with the shattering effect (compiz fusion still worked, just very slowly), I reckon it's the GPU.

Grrrrr. Anyone else had a similar problem? I'm going to take it in to a repair shop on Monday.
