Currently I've been looking a little more into why Christians believe in God (I've seen some ideas about how God could be a manifestation of our own ego, for example) to gain some perspective before I look into the ontological/teleological/etc. arguments.
Then on that note, you should check out the following vid by DarkMatter2525:
In fact, you should check out his channel. Plenty of straightforward, down to earth, intelligent thinking matter there.

I've seen that video here before on a number of occasions, and to me it's just silly. No offense Ben.
It's making stereotypes and assumptions about all people of faith. I for one, don't care in the least if someone doesn't have the same views on religion/God as I do. Obviously I think it's a good thing if someone does, because I believe it's the truth, but I most certainly don't feel personally offended by it if they don't. Believe what you want lol. So to me, watching this video is like, "Eye roll, these folks are way off and making the assumption that we're all immature, shallow, and stupid. How typical."
Ironically enough I've seen more people here who have felt angry that I believe in God than I personally feel towards those who don't.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I can believe that, but that trait is by no means specific to people of faith.

I never said it was. We tend to notice the loud-mouths. A small group of vocal Baptists can skew your view of a much larger and more diverse group.

I believe you (the part I bolded). But you're not very representative among the believers we get through here or know in RL. That is what makes you especially nice to have around - well, one of the reasons. (I think quite a few are also charmed by your poop obsession.) Likewise there are plenty of us who don't feel angry over what people believe, some of us are even intrigued by it.

No one can know for sure, but we believe since the baby is an innocent child he is with God. As for the moms who have abortions, I'm sure it depends on a lot and is taken on a case by case basis, just like with everyone/everything else.
So, wouldn't it be better for parents to have abortions?
If babies get a free pass to Heaven, seems like the best thing to do for them. There sure are a lot of temptations in the modern world for a lot of people to get themselves sent to hell.
More and more people are leaving religion, after all.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Not at all. The babies go to heaven, yes, but life is still an inherent human right and to take that away is awful. The parents then become guilty of that.

Seems to me, assuring a baby gets to heaven for eternity is much more important than 80 years of life.
Especially considering all the possible chances of them doing something that will get them sent to hell.
If you could assure them of 100% chance of going to heaven, as opposed to having some chance of them going to hell, wouldn't you?

Absolutely. I made a topic about this before. It's a shortcut to the finish; it's beating the system. But obviously that can't be allowed.
I mean, the whole idea that we're put here to go through this shit before starting our proper life is ridiculous anyway. It must be entirely for this puppet master's entertainment because he could just as easily missed all this out and supplied us with whatever we were meant to gain from this without having to put up with it. And we won't be ourselves in this new life, because of the reduction in free will and such so we can't "sin".
Especially as he planned huge numbers of them to just go straight out of this life anyway. Seems unfair they get a free pass, yet I have to navigate all these obstacles and pick the right fairy story to avoid a massively reduced reward.
