The old religions carry the attitudes and bigotry of the people who wrote them. People are scared of those who are different. They still are, it's just we've moved on a bit in general and openly bashing people has become less acceptable.
Religion is totally absurd. God gave us a brain, then wants us to turn it off and just do what some book says. Really? If he wanted automatons he should have made them.

When we go to a football match. We know how games is played and players that will participate in it. We DONT know the outcome of that match. If we knew how game will end, nobody would watch it...
