Do you click on anything when on the alerts page?

No no, not missing, just the number reduced. So on the full version if I open up the alerts and then close it, the number stays the same... it only reduces by one at a time when I actually click on one of the the alerts. But on the mobile version merely viewing a page of alerts reduces the number in brackets by the number of alerts on the page. So from my mobile I saw 17 alerts at first.. then looked at the dialog and when I came out it said 7. I thought that was curious so I went in and out again... still 7... so then I went in again and navigated to page 2 of the alerts, and as expected that reduced the count to 0. So it's basically a count of the number of alerts not read in the actual alert box, as opposed to not clicked on which is what it counts in the full version. But all the alerts themselves are all still there... it's only the number in brackets that's changed.

This happens on the regular site too: https://atheistforums.org/alerts.php

If you visit that page and click "next" again and again, the number of your unread alerts will go down. As you noted, this is unread alerts, not actual alerts, so you aren't losing any.

Ah, okay... fair enough. I've just never seen that effect myself... which therefore means I must've never navigated to page 2 of them. I think it still stays the same number if you close it with the x button though doesn't it? Cos that's what the x button is for with dialogs - to close without confirming anything. There just isn't an x button on the mobile version - because it's not really a dialog box - so closing the alerts on that requires just navigating to another page on the forum, and that presumably counts as a confirm for the alerts dialog. I'll test that next time on the full version and see what happens if instead of closing the alerts box with the x, I try to navigate to another page on AF... Though since on the full version it is a dialog box, that darkens the rest of the screen when opens, I realise that might not be possible. Anyway just for what it's worth, it seems to me that with what you've said, the way to make the two behave exactly the same is to either decrement the count when the x button is pressed on the full version dialog or not decrement it for the first page of alerts on the mobile version... which doesn't really make sense in that case because it's not implemented as a dialog but rather just another web page.

Anyway, I wasn't complaining, just noting a difference and asking about it. It didn't seem like something that could be a bug. So thanks for clearing it up Smile
