My (probably unpopular) opinion on arab refugees

RE: My (probably unpopular) opinion on arab refugees
I think people are misunderstanding wallym´s words. When he says that both options are fine, it means that from a historical/biological perspective both are viable options. Saving a few, or letting a few makes no difference for humanity as a whole. At the end, it sums up in if you feel mercy for the victims of war or not.

Um, no. Just no.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

What the eff???

Holy crap, there's been some scary ass posts on this forum recently.

Does what Syria and Russia are doing to those people seem out of character with the history of humanity?

It's kind of silly.  America is here because our ancestors killed a lot of people.  A LOT of people.  And once they got everything they wanted, and were on top of the world, they said "Alright!  Time Out!  Killing's bad.  Everybody has to be nice now!"

Indians:  Now that you guys admit conquering is bad, can we have our land back.
US: Sorry buddy, that was before we called timeout on conquering.
US: *TIME IN!* invades Iraq *TIME OUT*
Syria: Doh! You guys are very quick with your times ins and outs!

I would not expect anyone to help me. As I said some posts ago, I wouldnt  feel special compared to the other refugees. If someone helps me, great. If some dont, I wouldnt blame them because I wouldnt either.

No, I don't believe you. Hunger, thirst and the threat of imminent death make people do desperate things including leaving everything you have ever known to get on a plastic raft to float across a river or sea. I heard one refugee say it came down to a choice between a coffin (certain death) or a suitcase (migration).

I won't bother asking you what you would choose because I'm quite certain you won't answer. Lucky you - that you will likely never have to face that in real life.

What's your point? As time goes on and as we become more civilized, we learn from our mistakes, and things that were thought to be "ok" at one point, like slavery, rape, and genocide, are now seen as the monstrocities that they really are. It's disturbing to see someone saying that killing innocent ppl is a "fine" option just because it was viewed as ok at certain points in history. I'd like to think decent, civilized people have moved past that.

Agreed. I think I need to leave. This is making me feel sick.

We must not lie to ourselves even if it makes us feel better. There are always unfortunate people around the world who suffer because of the decisions of other people. Not much to do about it. What we can do is try to be a decent human being, and thats it.

All of you who are playing the white knights, dont be hypocrites.

How many people around you need help, and you do nothing about it? Not even feel pity. Dont play the good guys when you dont move a finger to help those in need.
