Robin Williams for me. I still have a hard time watching his films. Kind of fighting the urge to cry a bit right now too, which is off-putting. Loved her in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I'm struggling not to cry too. This really hurts

Same here. Star Wars was the center of my childhood. The first movie I remember seeing in my life was a VHS copy of A New Hope. I loved Fisher for her contribution to it, but I respected her as a person as well. Her honestly in regards to her drug use and how she was able to overcome it continues to inspire me to better myself. I just loved the way she carried herself and the way she spoke; she was "Hollywood royalty" but didn't act anything like it.
I'll genuinely, sincerely miss her. That's more than I can say for a lot of celebrities.
Honestly, star wars was one of the first movies i ever watched too She was one of the greatest actresses i've ever seen :/

Star Wars and her other career work aside, I respected Carrie for her openness about her struggles with bipolar disorder and addiction. I share the former affliction and her view on it contributed to my own desire to be as open about my illness as I am able.

Fuck. This sucks so much. This year has been terrible.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

It is eerie though, almost curse-like

It's a meme that's just getting on my nerves. Real people die, real talent is lost. Yes, 2016 was a shitty year, we get it.
I'm extremely sad about this, and the humor of the meme is lost on me just now, I suppose. Aside from Alan Rickman, Carrie Fishers death upsets me the most. I really wish I could have met her irl. She seemed like such an extraordinary person.

That was me. I had never cried over a celebrity death nor did I understand why people cared that much... until Mr. Williams died and I... well I've only seen 3 of his movies since his death and I cried the whole time. It happened again with Alan Rickman.
But as for Carrie... I just feel like she was the first female that I thought was as cool as the guys in the movies. They were already out and old by the time I watched them for the first time when I was 7 but I remember I watched them the night my mom came home from deployment (she is an American soldier and was overseas) and I compared my mom to Leia and that did it for me. I was forever a fan. I really don't know how any other actress could have portrayed her any better. Carrie WAS Leia.

Sad, but better than a lingering death.
