It's what they want, they're nostalgic for the good old days when people who questioned their precious beliefs were burned at the stake or tossed into dungeons. Now they actually have to defend what they believe some of the time, it's scary.
"In our youth, we lacked the maturity, the decency to create gods better than ourselves so that we might have something to aspire to. Instead we are left with a host of deities who were violent, narcissistic, vengeful bullies who reflected our own values. Our gods could have been anything we could imagine, and all we were capable of manifesting were gods who shared the worst of our natures."-Me

"Atheism leaves a man to sense, to philosophy, to natural piety, to laws, to reputation; all of which may be guides to an outward moral virtue, even if religion vanished; but religious superstition dismounts all these and erects an absolute monarchy in the minds of men." – Francis Bacon

If we need him enough, will he come into existence?

Ok, sure why not? I'll go with this. "We need GOD in this country."

Ummm... Which God will we be needing? How are we to decide which God? Popular vote maybe? Will nominations be carried out to decide which Gods are in the final vote?

I'd like to start this rolling and nominate Thor, because he has a big hammer.

Popularity of the differing religions seem to show Allah would be a serious contenter against the camp of Jesus. I'm sure Thor will go the way of Ross Perot.

Oh wait...... Some would say the Islamic Allah is the same as the Christian God. Well, damn now there's another bunch of worms that need to be uncanned.

I think we can agree the first thing we need to do is have an open debate to demonstrate the unity of believers in order to shut out those damned atheists. I'd also like to start that off:

I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.
