So............. "emo" means some boxer used your face for a punching bag?

I'm getting too fucking old for this. I'm going to invite Pad to a bar where we can sit and start every sentence with "these fucking kids today..................."

Haha, no it means you are depressing looking, listen to depressing music and think cutting yourself feels good. Well, at least that's the stereotype.

If it does, any suggestions for a less emo one?

No,and why do you care what a bunch of strangers on some forum think about your user name?

@Shell.

Aren't EMOs girlies of both sexes? I don't mean gay necessarily, just even more self absorbed and sensitive than the average teen and a bit of a plonker.

They like Britney and their absolute favourite books and movies are the Twilight series, which they wish was real.

On second thought, I can see why a relatively normal person would not want to be thought an EMO or Goth, to which they seem closely related.Angel Cloud

Do you mean ugly?

In my family,we refer to such people 'unfortunate looking' or as looking as if they were hit in the face with a shovel.

Other euphemisms for ugly include :a face like a chewed up chop and a face like a twisted sand shoe (sneaker).

Scruffy;looking as if one has been dragged through a hedge backwards ,or like a venetian blind with the cord broken.

The governator was once described by an Aussie wit as looking like a condom full of walnuts..

Sadly,I don't drink any more, due to a vindictive liver. Oh, I also have a new ailment: irritable prostate syndrome.I'll be fine; my doctor has prescribed a broad spectrum placebo.

Gladly I'm not too old to remember such teenage thrends, although the actual aren´t just the same. In my time was that whole punkish style, chains, army boots, you know, acting generaly stooopid Tongue

The general purpose remains the same: to just 'fit' amongst others.

Take that back Sir!

I know some damn fine Goths, it would be pistols at dawn if you were to say that to their faces! They hate/fail to understand the point of these Emokiddies as much as the rest of us. Tongue

The general purpose remains the same: to just 'fit' amongst others in my city:

You don't know what you missed.

When I was preteen there were The bodgies (males) and the widgies (females). Like Marlon Brando in The Wild Ones IE: Q: "Just what are you rebelling AGAINST?" A:"Whadya got?"

In the the 1960's there were three identifiable youth sub- cultures:

Surfies: short natural or bleached blond hair, face always sunburned. Liked to surf,(or at least look as if they did) The Beach Boys,Jan & Dean and The Atlantics, getting pissed and rooting (having sexual congress with) girls, in that that order. Also enjoyed lighting their farts when bored.

Rockers: slicked back hair with ducktail. Black brothel creepers and stove pipe jeans, leather jackets with studs.Tattoos. Liked to ride motor bikes or look as if they did, Elvis, fighting and rooting girls,in that order.

Mods: Long hair, trying to look as much like George Harrison as possible, corduroy jackets, paisley ties, black Beatle boots. For casual; stovepipe jeans and Italian racing shoes.Liked rooting girls, The Beatles,The Stones and 127 other British bands, going to dances in their mod clobber and getting pissed,in that order.

Hippies were a sub group of mods, mostly university students and seen as spoiled middle class wankers.

Drugs did not become a significant part of youth subculture here until the 1970's.

Me and my mates were Mods.Sadly, our condoms [mostly] used to perish in our wallets.

It's Chris, but I don't really want to use my real name.

I was trying to have a name that sounded English, regal and romantic. Smile

I'm all for free expression, but not if it involves being emo.
