True. Were Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John written close enough to the lifetime of Jesus to be reliable?? Christians (of course) say that yes, they were. I'd love to look into the findings of the Jesus Seminar, but I read from Christians (and perhaps others think this, too?) that it's scholarship and methods were sloppy.

There are no historical sources ( i.e. not canonical ) for jesus living in the early first century. What backs this up is that when xtians gained power in the 4th century they realized this fact and tried to forge some. Had there been actual records they would have preserved them as they did their forgeries.

So, none of the gospels were written around AD 50, which would place them within 20 years of when Jesus supposedly died??

More like 70 AD, and this is according to the Christian apologists who try to push the date as early as they can. In reality, it could have been 2nd century.

And even the 70 AD date is based on the Roman attack on Jerusalem....( the god boy "predicts" that the temple will be leveled and no stone shall stand on another or some such shit. ) Easy to do if you are writing after the fact.

The only problem is that Jerusalem was not leveled in 70. It was burned and much was destroyed but even Josephus notes that several towers remained and the 10th Legion used Jerusalem as their base. Further, survivors of the attack were not barred from the area

The city WAS leveled in 135 when Hadrian knocked all the rubble down and built Aelia Capitolina on top of the rubble. That's when the godboy's "prediction" came "true." At that time, Hadrian threw the Jews out of Judaea.

I have no idea. The Bible is a bunch of made up stories, and Jesus is one of the stories.

No. First I would like some evidence that he WAS alive.
