How else can we continue to discuss atheism if we leave science out of it? Atheists constantly say there's no evidence for God, isn't that a scientific statement?

Atheism and science are not even remotely related.  The two have nothing in common.  Most atheists accept most science, but one can both be atheistic and deny all science.

Agree with you, Asmodee.  Popular comedian and atheist Bill Maher famously rejects that vaccines are safe or called for.  Being an atheist doesn't require science, naturalism or an above average IQ.  It is just the lack of belief in gods.  Full stop.

Hasn't he "evolved" on that issue over the last couple of years?  I seem to remember that he used to be pretty adamant that he wasn't an atheist, but now has no problem accepting the moniker.  I may be mistaken, though.

Because they have no answers?  It's a question I ask all the time and never get any answers from theists.  How do they know anything that they claim to know about their supposed gods?  No clue.

Yeah, I seem to remember being extremely disappointment at him being anti-vaccine and I also seem to recall some point where he said he wasn't an atheist.  It was probably on Real Time, I would guess, at least 5 or 6 years ago.

Actually, I just found it and it was WAY earlier than I thought.  It was apparently in 2002.  Have I known who he was that long?  It's on his Wikipedia page under the heading "Religion", though the linked reference is anything but informative of the exact source of the quote.

As for the vaccines thing, I could have sworn he had softened considerably on that, but didn't exactly "come out" about being wrong, just kind of slyly changed his message.  It seems to me he still talked with a look of skepticism on his face, but "said all the right things".  Again, I may be wrong.
