Is there a logical, rational reason why hate is bad?

RE: Is there a logical, rational reason why hate is bad?
"Bad" is subjective and vague, so no, it can't be logically said to be bad until you've defined what "bad" means.

I agree it is unhealthy. However, I expect all emotions have their place. It's probably your body urging you to do something about your situation. But of course, now we're beyond mere survival, it's best to make decisions when calm.

Personally, I've harboured hatred for a very long time regarding certain things, and therapy helped me let go of it. I was much better for it. Since there was no practical action I could take, the hatred wasn't serving any purpose. All I could do was examine and adjust my attitudes.

Good and bad are subjective... but subjectivity is only subjective from the point of view of others i.e. epistemologically.... ontologically speaking all subjectivity is as objective as anything else. In fact it may be the most objective thing of all ontologically: in the sense that our own subjectivity is the one thing we can 100% know for sure exists.

Subjectivity is ultimately all that matters because it is mattering itself. What matters to me is what subjectively matters to me, what matters to others is what subjectively matters to them. And that's objectively true.

Sure I can't prove they exist apart form myself... but they still exist in my own consciousness even if not in their own. What matters to me is all that matters to me, what matters to others is all that matters to others but sometimes what matters to ourselves is others... I dunno I guess I don't understand what makes morality not objective. It's not universal. But universal =/= objective.

For the sort of hatred felt towards social groups, here's one: It is often predicated on premises which are frequently anywhere from misguided (like taking the worst actions of one member and assuming it's representative of the whole) to flat-out wrong (for one example, the old claims of Jewish people slaughtering Gentile boys and using their blood as the secret ingredient for pastries, rumours which have never been founded in fact, and which would have rendered the pastries non-Kosher even if the blood was of, say, a cow), and, in addition, causes far more harm than any sort of good. Therefore, it's a bad thing. Is this logical and rational enough?

NEKID!!!!
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

We start talk about whether hate is bad until we discuss what "bad" means. "Bad" implies a goal: car crashes are "bad" because for most, living is an important goal, and car crashses endanger life. Rock and Roll is "bad" because it lets teenagers shake their bodies and enjoy themselves, and it is their parents' goal for them not to do that. Hate is "bad" because it causes stress and can lead to acts of aggression that people dislike, can threaten health, and can interfere with the pursuit of happiness-- both for the hater and the one who has to deal with his aggression.

I wouldn't say that's a reason-- it's really more of a definition.

In very short terms hate can be shown as bad because hate inhibits team effort. The lone warrior is a myth.
Logically speaking team effort is much more productive than single effort, not always true but generally speaking team effort is better. If hate inhibits team effort thereby negatively impacting productivity it will have a degenerative effect on society.

When hate have a negative impact on society it fails to align with the group interest of the society (which is to improve itself) thereby becoming an immoral act.

Hate is not something that is intentionally a negative response to someone else actions or even your own. A over weight person can use *Hate* has a tool to fix the fact that she or he is over weight. The person can look in full body mirror and say "I hate you, your fat fucking piece of shit. and you will not exist anymore." You can use hate in the sense of an action that is being done in society, take the attempted censorship of the internet for instance. If you hate any type of censorship in media or in life. Your disdain for the action it self will in power you to do something about it. It's the way you go about it which makes it the "Bad" by society standards.

I'm unsure of the rational reason for why hate is bad, but I'm positive that the answer is negatively correlated to the answer for why love is good.
In other words, I think the answer can be found just as easily by searching for the reason for love being good.
I have been drinking a little so imagine my above speech with a little slur.

If God has directed you to hate the Amalekites with a godly hate, you'd better fucking get with the program and hate them.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Saying that hate is bad is vague and meaningless, the question why is hate bad is vague and meaningless.  It puzzles me why people are scrambling to try and give sensible answers to a nonsense question.

Hate isn't necesserily bad, happy isn't necesserily good.  If you're happy because you murdered a pile of babies, not so good.  If you hate an abusive husband or family member hate could be an understandable and useful emotion.

I hate the smell of human shit, which is useful because it's pretty unhygenic to be near piles of human shit.  I've got a really intense dislike of being punched in the face or falling off roof tops, and those emotions have done well for me so far.

Anyone who is going around saying oversimplistic things like "hate is bad." might aswell be telling you to use the force or some other star wars bullshit.

Even if you're purely talking about hate from one human to another it depends what hate is driving you to do. If you think I hate that person I'm going to avoid them because they're violent, that might be good for your health.

If you think I hate that person who nudged me, I'm going to find out where they live and set thier house on fire that's not healthy.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
