Thank you Boru. I'm going to wait for one more week and see about the pain. Definitely going to see a neurologist if the pain persists. Did you had to do surgery in your case?

Yes, that's what a laminectomy is. The back pain and the leg pain/numbness was being cause by vertebrae pressing on the sciatic nerve. They went and cut out the little bits of bone that were causing the trouble.

Pain in your lower back radiating out to your hip and down your leg usually indicates neurologic/disc/spine involvement. You should go to the neurologist.

If it is neurological/disc, heat may not be helping. Try ice packs, the logic is to reduce the swelling of the disc pinching/compressing the nerve.

Ya, I have a zipper back also. L5/S1 disc blown. Blew it off, big mistake. Made the surgery (laminectomy/discectomy) and recovery worse. Still don't have full sensation in the outside of my calf after 20 years.

The exercises in the OP are the same/similar to the PT I did post surgery.

Good Luck.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

The kind of pain you said going down on your leg - did you have it every time you walked or only when you did something intense? Because the pain I described going down on my leg from my back I got when I played an intense football game (not to brag: P we won the game 2-1 , both goals me ^_^). That pain seemed to have gone after some rest but I can feel from the way my body's responding that I need more rest. I've also started to walk a bit because I've read too much rest can actually weaken my back.

Do you go for some sort of physio ? Chances of recovery post-surgery is slim, as far as I have heard.

Really? I didn't know that. I did go to physio but it was really very basic stuff the nurse told me she'd teach me more advanced exercises later to which I didn't go.. Do you recommend going back and doing a advanced physio?

Physiotherapy.......regular, i.e. all. I think they use a machine with radiowaves, and blast it on parts of your body. Is that the physio you're going for ? Just be regular with it Smile

They have a new program in Dubai, where they use something like an ultra wave....yes found it. Here's the website:

http://www.kktspine.com/

It's USD 500 per visit ? Contact them, and you'll know.

I'm speaking from someone who had the same issue as yours, where both his spinal discs were crushed too.

No I meant the one where they teach exercises to strengthen the back muscles or something. I only went there for one day so I'm not entirely sure about the full spectrum of their operations .. I'm going to see a neurologist first thing I get out of here.

And Spinal discs crushed? Holy Fuck.

On the Joe Rogan show he's really enthusiastic about this excersise for back problems.

My back is weird because even though I have quite a curved spine which gives me horrible posture that runs in my family, I've never had back problems, neither has my dad or my grandad that I'm aware of.

Joe Rogan had horrible back problems from martial arts he talks about this one and some others a lot.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Does your pain completely disappear or do you always have to be cautious with your movements so that the pain doesn't come back?

If the pain has not gone away and you have any numbness , tingling etc you should go see a neurologist. Compression of nerves can result in permanent nerve damage. Some times surgery is the only option. Steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs might work. Maybe just time. Best to rule out the worst.

Thank you Paul.
I have a curved spine too. I had terrible posture some 5 years ago but after seeing a few photos of mine with my terrible posture I decided to work on it. The way I keep a straight posture now is by puffing out my chest. That way my shoulders are more widened and I have a more straight posture.

Thanks bro. Seeing a neurologist is definitely on the top of my list right now. I usually recover very fast from injuries but this back problem is quite persistent. I don't even feel confident enough to pace myself walking let alone sprint now. I hope everything is fine.
