Are you into mathematics? Do you have any cake?

Doing nothing isn't the same as dividing by zero.

But you divided it up zero times, well, to give God his due you first didn't divide it up once, and then didn't divide it any again, and so on.

I have a cake (2) I share it(divide it) with absolutely nobody(0). What am I left with? My cake. (2)

2/0 = 2.

Well, at least you attempted to define your variables now...but since when is 2 a good value for a single cake..or sharing a good description of division? I mean, hell, if we're going to be that loose, I could tell you that no matter how many times you "share" your cake you still have one cake, since the question seems to be how many cakes you have, and not how many pieces you cut it into.

No you have one cake(1) and you divide it amongst one person(1).
1/1=1

It's okay. The cake is a lie.

We have a winner.

If you had 1 cake and gave it to no one to eat, it would never get eaten.  So you don't complete the division.  Unlike when you divide it between say 4 people at which point it disappears when each has had a fourth.

I always preferred the example of "I have 20 bucks, if I have you line up and give it away $5 at a time, how many would get paid?  Why don't you all get $5?  Because it gets used up after the first four takers.  Likewise if I hand it out $2 at a time, ten get paid and then it's gone, the division is complete.  But if I hand out just $0 at a time, how many get paid before the $20 is used up?
