It would probably be best if they all got drunk, or stoned. Mushrooms are probably the best bet.

That could be an interesting experiment. Give hallucinogens to members of various religious franchises and see if their hallucinations when tripping differ measurably from when they're not. It might serve to confirm the hypothesis that St. John the Divine was the victim of ergot poisoning.
