What's the Next Step in Evolution for Homo Sapiens?

RE: What's the Next Step in Evolution for Homo Sapiens?
That, I'm not sure of, as I haven't read any studies to that regard.

Mental health isn't really my field, though I have had basic training in it, so the studies may be out there.

Even with modern medicine, there are far too many kids (and adults), who slip through gaps that are far too big.

With tech we may be in control of our next evolutionary step. Wonder if we will recognize it? Probably not if step is extinction.

If it involves two dicks I want no part of it. More boobs on the other hand...............

So, you'll be wanting more hands, too...

The prevalence of people on the autism scale is increasing, supposedly because of the increase in information we are required to juggle in our daily lives. People who are able to handle large amounts of information perform better at the tasks we're required to accomplish in most developed countries. The downside is that this sacrifices less important brain functions, which leads in the direction of things like autism.

I have no idea how true this is, but it's something to look into. I'll admit that I'm not personally interested enough to do any more research into the idea.

Actually, the increase in reporting has more to do with better methods for detection, and a less prejudicial attitude to certain mental conditions like autism. Very few autistic people cand do what you describe, that perception is very much an artefact of media misreporting and popular fiction, like Rain Man.

Yeah, I'm not putting too much trust in that one either. I didn't see an actual study when I first heard it. I don't care enough to look into it further, either, so I'm not about to believe it yet. If there's something solid there at all, I'll let the folks with the proper degrees pick it apart.

Why would we evolve like that? It's not like evolution does some forecasting and plans ahead?

Because the statement is wrong

Does that also apply to Aussies? Big Grin

No.

Aussies are a singular, independent species.

I was under the impression that our politicians only use about 4% of their brain capacity???

No, they use 100%.

It's just unfortunate that the 100% equates to 2% for the rest of us.
