If that seems absurd, just know that the word lottery was mentioned 11 times in the GOP health care plan. The important issue of Medicaid got equal attention with 11 mentions. A full six pages of the 60-plus page bill were devoted to lottery winnings. Lottery winnings! Essentially, the GOP bill's big idea on this—to which it devoted nearly 10 percent of its attention—is figuring out ways to make sure lottery-winners on Medicaid can't cheat the system. Seriously. The bill goes on and on and on to stipulate under which circumstances the state can declare you no longer in need of—nor entitled to—Medicaid.

Oh, yes.  And here's the reason.  The GOP was right to try to prevent the ACA going into effect because they did understand that it is actually quite hard to take candy from a baby.  People who never had health insurance saw it as an abstraction but once they had it - and they have had it for 7 years - they liked it.  The GOP did understand that.  Taking shit away is not popular.

How stupid do you have to be to know that being treated at an emergency room is not insurance coverage?

The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), passed in 1986, requires hospital emergency rooms to provide assistance to everyone for emergency medical treatment. However, emergency room treatment is considered to be the most costly type of care, and it does not include non-emergent needs like routine physicals or cancer treatments. Additionally, the law provides no mechanism for funding, leaving patients with an enormous bills which hospital are many times unable to collect.

The depth of ignorance that these republicunt assholes show on this issue is truly staggering.  We seem to have a whole party of shitheads who don't grasp how complicated things are.
