AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-April 1 to May 1
RE: AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-April 1 to May 1
I've had a cold the past two days. Hard to breath from so much congestion, sore throat and coughing. I haven't felt much appetite either. But I'm still eating on schedule, just fewer cookies with tea. Slept most of Saturday. Did a little weeding yesterday and hope to do more today. Haven't weighed in lately. I'm used to doing that weekly.

I would stick with weekly. If you do it daily, you're going to feel like a cook watching a pot of water boil. It just doesn't happen that fast.

Before bed is my snacky phase, I've realized. It's time to have lunch and dinner later in the day.

I've already lost all my baby weight since being pregnant last summer, so I'm not on a weight loss diet anymore. I am now on a "fertility diet."

The fertility diet is basically a super healthy diet that puts your body in optimum condition for getting pregnant and having a healthy baby. It's very similar to the caveman diet. Basically you try to eat only whole foods, and avoid/minimize gluten, processed foods, and added sugars of any kind. Stick to vegetables and fruits, lots of healthy fats and animal proteins, and lots of nutrients, with a special emphasis on antioxidants and anti inflammatory foods. Preferably all organic to avoid the added hormones in meats, pesticides in produce, and GMO's. Lots and lots of purified water, at least 10 cups a day... though I do more like 12.

To fill in the gaps and make sure that I am built up as much as possible, I also take 3 different supplements: a whole foods prenatal vitamin, 200mg of ubiquinol, and DHA/EPA.

As for exercise, it has to be very light so you don't stress your body, but enough to promote good circulation. Hence, I go on 2 mile walks every day.

If anyone else is trying to get pregnant/planning on getting pregnant, it's good to start this diet at least 3 months before conception to get the full benefits for your baby when you do conceive. And if you aren't trying to get pregnant, I would recommend this type of diet anyway, as it is a super healthy and relatively easy diet to follow. My weight loss diets from the past have always made me feel tired, worn out, and cranky. With this diet, I have never had so much energy in my life. My mood is better and my weight is staying down. Highly recommend it!

Another great thing about this diet that I forgot to mention is that the point of it is to get all the nutrients you need (in a healthy way). So since you're giving your body all it needs, it GREATLY reduces cravings for the unhealthy stuff we all love sooo much. I never feel hungry and my chocolate addiction is now very manageable.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Not to start anything crazy, but why do you avoid GMOs and then take supplements?
Some GMOs are made so that they provide more nutrients than the "organic" variety, you know?
However, most research goes into increased yield and pest resistance.

It's great to hear that you're getting back into baby making mode! Smile Best of luck!!

It was suggested by my reproductive endocrinologist as having possible negative effects on fertility and DNA of the egg/sperm and newly conceived baby. So I've been trying to avoid it to play it safe. After the crap I've been through, I'm not taking any chances.

Yeah, GMOs are generally harmless, but you're trying to get in a delicate state where every bit of help matters, so do what they tell you. Good luck!

yeah... lots of "information" out there... lots of sites claiming to be for natural and organic stuff... if it makes you feel better by going along with that, by all means, go! There's no harm in doing it!
Just, sometimes, it's useful to separate the wheat from the chaff. This came up in your google search:
http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/featur...about-gmos

A half-decent credited source, unlike "livingmaxwell.com", or "thebump.com", or "holisticprimarycare.com", or "naturalsavvy.com"

Some time ago, a friend of mine come to me with a new fad a friend of his had told him about. This other friend was claimed to be thorough and not known to spread BS.
Well... this particular fad involved ingesting peach pits to prevent a series of ailments... including cancer. Google it. You'll find tons of websites claiming the exact same thing!
But, when you do actually go out to look for information about how that works... well... you may end up here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amygdalin
This was the end of the peach pit diet for my friend.

But your GMOs, if you think you get that bit of an edge by avoiding them, hey, go for it!
Health is also in your mind.
Just don't feel rotten if, on a few occasions, you can't avoid them... the result should be negligible, at worst!

Yeah, I've come to find out that me choosing to eat organic/non gmo is controversial among atheists for some reason. But whatevs. They didn't go through what I did, and after that I'd rather play it safe and follow my doctor's advice.

Anyway, my rule is this: when I go grocery shopping, I buy everything organic/non gmo, and I only buy foods according to my diet. But that is the extent of it. When I eat at a friend's house or go out to eat (as I do a few times a month), I don't worry about the food being organic, or even about my diet at all. Healthy diets are very important, but it's equally important not to get too obsessive to the point where you're not giving yourself a break in circumstances where you're not eating at home for whatever reason. Just don't make eating out the norm, obviously lol.

I don't really have any insights into fertility. I've spent much more care in my life trying to avoid pregnancy than to achieve it. (Successfully by the way .. hmmm, wonder if my bullets are blanks or if my muzzle is just too damn big? Guess I'll never know.)

I much prefer organic in general especially for dairy and produce, but have less information about GMO's. I guess everything a farmer grows has been enhanced in some way or other but -hey- if your endocrinologist suggests it, I'd do it too. I'm a big believer/fan of western medicine.

You will be a world class momma whether you end up having your own or trade in your cat collection to become a baby lady.
