Yeah...but hopefully all the liberals that are around millenial age stay that way.

Actually statistically most americans are already fairly liberal when polled issue by issue.

Trump promised universal healthcare, I don't know why anyone believed him when he could not present an actual plan to do that.

The funny thing about these idiots is that they whine about "socialism" but have no complaints about their guy dealing with a guy who was a high ranking functionary within a communist regime.

Trump has said that he'll wait for Obamacare to explode and then the Democrats will come running to him for a solution.

If that time comes, the Democrats can point to this bill and tell Trump to his face that they offered him a solution early on and he ignored it.

Tibs if it doesn't get passed there will be outrage on a scale so large... keep in mind Republican voters were lied to about single payer until
recently until Bernie went to those states explaining it to them. A lot people want single payer healthcare now and if it gets shot down people will get mad.
Until recently people said peaceful protest no violence were hitting that point now to where peaceful  protests will turn violent until change does happen..
Even if it doesn't pass it doesn't mean you stop fighting for it you keep fighting the good fight until you get single payer healthcare many more people want it now.
that being said that is something both sides well all sides can unite under even if it doesn't you fight on the state level for single payer to get it done the same way marijuana
legalization and medical use.

Putin and his subordinates are not communists. They themselves are dance-partners in collusion with oligarchs.

Trump aspires to that sort of relationship here in America, not understanding that the oligarchs already hold all the strings. 'Tis only another testament to his utter incomprehension.

Perhaps one of the board socialists....er, Europeans/Canadians, etc... can answer this because I genuinely don't know.  When you go into a clinic in a civilized country are there forms to fill out and papers to sign?  Is there an ID card for the National Health Insurance system?  How does the process actually work?

In Germany, the majority of people are part of the compulsive insurance system. If you have a job, your employer automatically registers you there. If you don't and you're not covered by a spouse, there's a welfare system which I haven't had to use yet fortunately, so I don't know the details. You have a credit card sized ID card which they swipe and then they call the death panel you're on your way to the doctor/station. Usually you have to sign a treatment contract, and that's it. By the way, if you're in this pinko commie system and you feel a bit capitalist, you can always drop cash for the special treatment.

Individuals above a certain income/freelances can apply to be exempt from this system, they can then become member of what s called a "private" insurance company. That means you'll generally get some more features such as single rooms, the big professors are more likely to treat you rather than their underlings, but in recent years the private insurers have become known for luring in young customers with attractive offers and screwing over older patients with obscene fees.

I for example am now part of the usual compulsory system which is actually pretty good. If I will, as is my plan, get a tenured position as a civil servant, I would get a kind of hybrid insurance scheme that is set up specially foe civil servants.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Thanks, Alex.  So no walletectomy, huh?  That's where some functionary who looks like a cross between a loanshark and a longshoreman extracts your wallet, cleans it out, and puts it back empty before you get to tell the Triage nurse why you are bleeding on their floor.  By the way, bleeding on the floor costs extra.

I just listened to a TTA episode where Seth got charged a "Self-Administered Oral Medication" fee of $130 during a hospital visit.

They charged him to give himself aspirin.

Capitalism doesn't give two shits about what governments do re people's private lives. The only interest of capitalist thinkers is ensuring that no rules are put in place to restrict owners of capital or their agents from maximising profits.

In fact I would go so far as to say, that in order to survive and prosper, the economic system called capitalism needs to exist within a very intrusive dictatorship.

The idea that people get right wing as they age is a myth. What happens is that most people's ideals and prejudices tend to fix starting in their thirties, and where those opinions are on the political spectrum change.

For example one's racist granny was just as racist back in the fifties. Nobody noticed back then because such racism was mainstream. Now everybody notices because racism has become (in culture at least) an extreme view.
