Christopher, there's something I'm curious about when it comes to evolution deniers and I'm wondering if you could fill me in. Ben Stein's movie didn't cover it.
What's the motivation behind the "Darwinist conspiracy"?
To believe that science has gotten it wrong for over 100 years and still clings to a flawed theory with religious-like fervor is to believe that there's some conspiracy at work that has broken down the otherwise effective institution of peer review.
Surely you believe in science outside of its claims regarding evolution? More or less? Perhaps there are some other things you take issue with, like climate change, but otherwise you're comfortable with science? The very fact that you or others who are like minded publish your views on websites and you seek to discuss these ideas on the web suggests that you like what science produces when it suits you. So I would be right in assuming that you think that science gets it right most of the time?
Assuming this is the case (and please correct me if I'm wrong), you think that in this one area, the normally effective process of peer review has horribly broken down for nearly a century? Not only in America but all over the world? Apparently, the conspiracy is an international conspiracy?
This idea that "science normally works except on the issue of evolution" only makes sense if you really believe there's a sinister and international cabal of "Darwinists" who've secretly taken over the academic community (along with allies in the press) and maintain such tight control that not only have they been able to keep this up for a century and done so on an international scale but can crush the career of and completely silence any aspiring scientist who questions their authority.
If you don't believe in such a conspiracy, how is it that evolution remains the accepted model in biology as it has been for 100 years? How could the institution of peer review broken down so thoroughly and for so long? How have detractors not emerged or, if they have, how have they failed to be taken seriously by the science community?
If you do believe in such a conspiracy, what is the motivation of the conspirators? Money? Power? Are such things to be acquired by pushing evolution? How's that work exactly?
Or is it Satan, working through his vampire minions?
Just trying to understand.
