Who does religion care?

RE: Who does religion care?
So you're really arguing against Catholicism. Christianity I was taught doesn't involve infinite retaliation, judgment on works, or eschew personal accountability. Wordy, but your generalizations are still false.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

And he seems to be a big fan of Hitchens, who seems more intent on attacking Christians and Christianity rather than addressing whether or not it's true.

I would care less about how much of an evil, tyrannical, totalitarian asshole your God is and more about whether or not it's true and this Cosmic Cunt is going to torture me forever for not accepting some mythological blood sacrifice.

And from a Hitchen's perspective eternal torment is contrary to Christian teaching, so it doesn't seem to make sense. I'm aware not all denominations teach the same things, but lots teach on the Bible and it's fairly clear in the Bible the soul is DESTROYED in hell, not hangs out there drinking lava-tini's for eternity.

Bullshit Tack.

"And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the eternal fire," (Matt. 18:8)

"And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life" (Matt. 25:46)

"And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power," (2 Thess. 1:9).

"Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example, in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire" (Jude 7).

These men are those who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever," (Jude12-13).

Yea, but don't take them parts literally! Wink

The bible cant decide what It means. For every good verse there's an evil one. It contradicts itself and makes so much bull shit up its hard to see how anyone takes it seriously.

Some seem genuinely interested in thoughts of "non believers" but still try to argue their case of why their religion is right so if not directly seem unavoidably linked to the other types of people who post here. The ones who preach their religion as correct and actively try and convert others.

I come here to express my thoughts on religion and God. I think a lot about these things and the more I discuss them, even if I'm talking to atheists, the more it increases my faith in my religion because I realize that talking about religion is like a different bandwidth of thinking from science, philosophy, and other types of rational thinking. That's one of the reasons why some atheists will never understand how people can believe in a God without any evidence.

Still, I find it valuable to discuss things with atheists because there are some who are not very confident and others who are also more open to intellectual discussions. And I know that everyone can judge for themselves if what I'm saying is logical or not. So, what I think is the truth needs to be shared with others whether they agree or disagree.

I'm not too much of a practicing Muslim because I don't pray 5 times a day like we're supposed to. However, I still believe in God and an afterlife and what is in the Quran. I don't believe that everything about religion are lies and that we should discard it completely. I read biographies of the prophets and the history of Islam and I don't think that a morally good human being would try to deceive everyone into believing in something which is not true. More importantly, we have to study a particular religion's origin and it's history in greater details before we say that this is all fake and non-sense.
