I know it is much easier to believe in a utopia brought about by those who say they are looking out for us and know what is best to meet our needs. You are wrong. The slope continues slippery and has rapidly "progressed" during the 20th Century, but became even more treacherous during this century during the Bush and Obama administrations. Progressives are patient Communists, even if they aren't aware that what they are doing helps to usher in Communism. What is coming is anybody's guess, as Trump seems to be our most unprecedented leader, yet.
I truly hope there never comes a time when you will be grateful that some of us take our rights and responsibilities seriously. Of course, it is entirely possible that failing will just allow this "Grand Experiment" to slip forever into oblivion and most will never know what has been lost. Still...there are many in foreign nations who hope the US can stand strong and remain a beacon of liberty to those who seek it.
It is all bound together in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution and Bill of Rights. As They keep trying to unravel it, they know exactly what They are doing.
I am going to stop writing on this topic.

Glad you don't fear me firearm owner. But the Might indicate sarcasm in your response to Thump.
America already has corporate socialism. They socialize the profits at the top when they win, and socialize the losses on the other 99% below them when they lose.
If the morons on the economic right would do their history, after WW2 we had heavy taxes on the top and heavy investment in programs, the pay gap was much lower and pay ratio wise met the cost of living far better. Reagan started the decline of that.
I am a social liberal, but no, I don't want us to become Stalin's Russia or even Catro's Cuba. I am simply for busting up anything that gets too big, anti monopoly, not anti private sector. I think we can have universal health care and cheep to free higher education.
And thanks for your comments to Jeanne too. "Trust me I know what I am doing" has had a lot of kids accidentally shoot themselves or others. That happens way too much to simply blame it on the parents. I blame the far right and NRA marketing.

Agreed, I already told you my family history of mental illness, you'd be right to question me. That is why "Legal at time of buy" isn't enough, because right now, I have no criminal record.
I trust you from what I have read because you don't flip out like others here when I object to the way things are. And you keep them locked up, and I'd bet you don't brag to everyone in your face to face life about what you own.
If anyone's argument is "RIGHTS" and "Just because", they completely miss the point because nobody is trying to or should try to ban every single firearm.
