Bill Nye Saves the World

Does anyone know the last time Bill Nye was actually an active research scientist in a field? I'm not saying he never was, but it seems now he's more of a science advocate than a professional scientist.

Local talk radio host today (Chris Baker as I recall) was having a hissy fir about Bill Nye publicly embracing ZPG.
Haven't heard much about that since I was in high school. Despite my eschewing of most things heterosexual, I wouldn't mind being on a committee charged with evaluating breeding permit applications . . . .

Hey...go easy on ole Billy! He seems to be okay with being regarded as more of a "science guy", than a scientist.
So, he's working the cheap seats. The guy's got bills to pay!
