Why are Christians so uneasy about the paranormal

RE: Why are Christians so uneasy about the paranormal
Mr. Catholic_Lady is fortunate to not have experienced my "giant spiders eating my face while I am paralyzed" nightmare . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Regardless, the sleep paralysis + hallucinations explanation is compatible with the description you provided. In fact, it was the first thing that popped to my mind as I was reading your post. I was looking for anything in the post that would falsify the explanation but found none.

This once happened to me as well, and this is almost identical to what happened to me (the "half-awake, half-asleep" part).

I'm not sure how, considering sleep paralysis is described as inability to move, which is not what he experienced. Saying he imagined the presence in the room and imagined the dark figure on the mirror sounds much more plausible to me than saying he had sleep paralysis when he had gotten out of bed, gotten a drink, and splashed cold water on his face.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Fair call about the sleep paralysis part not being the case. But whatever the exact sleep experience was (terror episode), I interpreted that to mean he got out of bed after the experience.

When he got out of bed was when he had it. That's when he was standing over the sink and saw a figure standing behind him in the mirror. Did you read the story? Lol.

Not completely (I thought all the juicy stuff was done by the time he got out of bed). Just did now. My bad.

RE: Why are Christians so uneasy about the paranormal
The paranormal to religious people is related to demons, and here's the problem: Satan and his lutanists are viewed by the mainstream to be ultimate trolls who have nothing in mind but to scare humans.

Here in Arabia, demons are feared to immense levels, they are also held responsible for bad dreams, mental illnesses.
What can't be explained is thrown at demons, it's also the same case with Christianity.

Personally; I think that the paranormal is beautiful. I think demons are pretty beings.
Having multiple sclerosis, I walk like a demonically possessed individual from a horror movie when an MS flare hits me. All you have to do is to mess with the nerves and the infected human would just ....

Maybe ancient people feared sickness, so they blamed the effects they can't heal on Satan.
But the worst crime a person can do, is to betray the real reason behind things, and just blame the unknown.

I think being afraid is the cause Christians are uneasy with the paranormal; but isn't it the same with Heathen Shamans blaming evil spirits, JU=ON stuff?

It's always somebody to blame; except ourselves.

Is that where women are not allowed to drive? If so, do you agree with that law?
