I actually have plenty of personal evidence, evidences that God has shown me. I know, not just believe. I believe if you are open God can show you Himself too.

Problem is, there are many people of other religions that say the same kinds of things.

We have several Muslims on this forum that have had some sort of personal experience with a different god than you have.

And here I am, completely without any sort of god beliefs, wondering how I can go about finding out who among all different theists, who is right.

Or even more to the point, how do I go about discerning if any of you are.

How do I know if your 'personal evidence' isn't just you misinterpreting some completely natural, and mundane, brain state?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

I'm assuming by your own label that you are talking about the Christian God. Honestly this topic would be far more interesting if you worshiped Bugs Bunny as alluded to in the topic title.

The Christian God doesn't exist. This much is obvious because the bible is full of enough bullshit that you could fertilize Jupiter with it. There's so much baloney in there you might as well call it Oscar Mayer. The biblical god just doesn't make sense, and if you think you have some personal evidence then all I can say is: No you don't. You just have confirmation bias. And that's all well and good for you I guess, but the Christian God doesn't exist. Maybe there's some sort of god out there. But it's not the god you believe in and worship. And I say thank the flying spaghetti monster for that.

It always becomes quite apparent to me when reading theistic references to god that they are merely using the belief in god as a therapy/coping mechanism whereby mentioning god helps them to reflect on deeper aspects of themselves.

Which is precisely why this makes perfect sense:

I think that his belief in his personal evidence became to big of a cross to bear.

Ya know... I'll never understand why people feel the need to come here and get all preachy to us. Given that the vast majority of us came from some kind of religious background and have come to our senses, breath is wasted.

Many tried before you and have failed miserably.

Religion is like a penis. It's fine to have one and be proud of it, but it's not necessary to wave it in everyone's faces.
