I used to hike and climb quite a bit with a group based in India, so I know several 'dirtbag' climbers, and I greatly admire the dedication and passion it requires. I think some of these people hold national or even world records in mountaineering in the Himalayas, and that way of life fascinates me to no end.
Have you ever climbed in India?

No. Are you from there?

More adventures in casual birdwatching in Door County, Wisconsin:

At one point last week, I saw a Common Merganser, carrying its young on its back like sailors on a deck as it floated across Green Bay. I could not get a good photo.

However, on Monday, on the way to see Door Shakespeare's latest production of Much Ado About Nothing, I saw two sandhill cranes:

Shortly after, I discovered that one of the two breeding grounds for the Whooping Crane is in Wisconsin. That said, it seems the breeding grounds are more inland than Door County.

Also, in addition, one of my longest-standing traditions in Door County is a yearly trip to THE Farm. Here, there was an area with ducks and geese, and the ducks seemed to be really preoccupied with preening, and given how into it they were, I fully expected to see some feathers come off:

Eventually, I found a feather near the enclosure that I'm fairly certain comes from one of the geese; if it was, it wouldn't be in violation of the Migratory Birds Act of 1918 if I took it and put it in my cap. So I did.

And now for some #HailTritanopia pics.

A few pics from my trip so far.

Rob rescued this baby turtle from the middle of the road. He put it near the water.

Look! My car is surrounded by water!  No, really, we took a ferry over to Okracoke island for the day.

The area has taken on over 18 inches of water in the last week.  Needless to say, the area has a lot of roads covered with water. This is one of them and it leads to the house we rented for the week.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.

Found this right off our porch. Has to be at least 3 or 4 inches.

It needs to DIE .
