I know this might be sacrilege to you, Summer, but we are photographers! Couldn't you stage the shots?

I can't just splash water onto pavement and expect it to turn into ice, Annik - I might live several hundred miles north of you, but it doesn't exactly get cold enough to produce "hard crack candy" ice like that very often. Most ice, if we get it at night, is melted by the time I'm waking up.

Saturday night, the temperature dropped suddenly. The first bit of snow appears to have melted, and then BAM it started a white out and there was no hope. It was also thundering, so it may have started as rain. When we went onto the roof, it was thundering behind all the whipping snow. To quote Lewis Black, they don't even right about that kind of weather in the Bible. At any rate, suffice to say that it was a unique mix of weather conditions, and that's why this one was a one-off. If we got interesting ice weather here all the time, I'd be more than happy to do a series. As it is though, we are a green state 8 months out of the year. 9-10, if you count the warmer days in winter when the moss and lichens look lush and hearty.

Not in my living memory, and I used to live where we got a blizzard every four years, and at least two or three good snows every other winter.
Perhaps someone living in colder areas has other experiences. ![]() RE: Member Photos

Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
