Scottish "Ancestry" means nothing. My father is Scottish and I'm still "Fucking English" and an "English Cunt" to Scottish people. Mostly because being from England makes me English, it's kinda how these labels work.

As for the likelihood of strangers talking to each other, just yesterday while browsing in the bread aisle of my local Sainsburys a guy broke out into a big yawn while doing the same. "Are we keeping you up?" I asked. We then had a brief conversation about the freshness of the bread (comparing dates). Never met him before. Will probably never meet him again.

Lol, the Finnegan's Wake that I think of is a pub I'm fond of in Winston-Salem where a glass of Guinness is considered both acceptable "breakfast food" and "an appetizer."
