"Cultural Appropriation"
RE: "Cultural Appropriation"
Personally, I wonder how many people are out there shopping for a crucifix that aren't, themselves, believers.  It -seems- like it might be a niche market.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

There's a danger in assuming that nobody is gunning for Christians because when people do discriminate against Christians, people laugh at or don't believe it. It's the same thing with whites, especially white men, especially white straight men. People can say and do whatever they want towards white straight men because many people assume they are given everything and on top of everyone. Women can be sexist towards men and blacks can be racist towards whites and nobody cares.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who discriminate against Christians, but for cultural appropriation, I think you have to be stealing cultural icons and ideas with the intent of taking them out of the hands of the oppressed population.

I'm not saying that I care, but I can definitely see that arguments against dream catchers and crosses aren't an exact parallel.

I think in the end, the best would be to mock anyone who thinks either dream catchers OR crosses matter.  We hold the opinion that neither is anything more than the expression of superstitious nonsense, and that superstitious nonsense isn't particularly worth protecting, no matter to whom it belongs, right?

well, I've bought one or two over the years, and I've been recently informed I'm apparently a big old sinner of the worst kind.

I admit I don't ever frequent a local restaurant that I realize has the Christian Rock channel for their muzak.  (yet I do subscribe to Sirius/XM which carries it)

I've never set foot in a Chik-fil-A or a Cracker Barrel, and I never will.

But if the local church ladies need a light bulb changed (not the RLDS, Baptists, or Church of Christ, BTW) and I get a church lady pie, I'm there doing it.

IOWs, it's complex situation.

I don't care if people borrow, use, or transform ideas or icons from cultures that they're not a part of. First of all, I don't see why that is wrong. Second, I'm a big believer in human liberty. Third, I like interacting with other cultures.

Should I complain when black women use blonde weaves?

Should I complain when a Native American dresses up like a Cowboy for Halloween? I don't care. Why would I? I really think this is just people being whiny little bitches.

Lets all bow our heads in remembrance of the poor downtrodden white man.  Persecuted everywhere he went, until the blacks and the females and the gays finally mercy killed him.

Black women wearing blonde wigs is not the appropriation being referred to. Native american girls dressing up as cowboys, also not the thing. Being a big believer in human liberty, the actual thing should probably bother you. We both know that it doesn't, ofc.

@Vor, I wish Willwork4pie was as complicated as my situations got, lol. Wink

I don't think you understand what human liberty is--nor do you seem to completely understand what cultural appropriation is either.

But the beginning part of your post is interesting because it's the exact kind of thinking that leads towards unbridled and unrecognized racism against whites and sexism against men. In fact, you are racist and sexist against white men. I bet you believe that infamous (but widely unreported) case in Tennessee where a white couple was abducted by a group of black people and then raped, tortured (genitals cut off, bleach poured down orifices), and murdered had nothing to do with race. You might actually think it's funny or that white people deserve that type of thing.

Disgusting.

Ironically, it's people like you who incite things like white power movements. Keep digging.

If you're going to say it, own it. You are saying "You believe in cultural appropriation, so. . . NAZI!!!!"

Doesn't make sense, though.

Come on, dude, you know that's not even a fair argument. I'd fuck a handicapped native lesbian dwarf with a star of David and a cross up my hairy ass while chanting the virtues of Donald Trump. . . if someone said something about pie!

Just saying. . . people like pie a lot, you know? Can't start bringing in these complicated variables into a philosophical discussion!

Well, obviously.  I mean, what doesn't lead to white male genocide?  Never in the history of the world has there been a more oppressed group of people.

That's why I have a dog on my porch.  To keep the darkies from stealing in and running off with my white women.

OFC I am, I make a yearly contribution to the daily stormer and everything.  I have an ayran purity card in my back pocket, and a life size portrait of the Pussenfuhrer in my bedroom.  I won it at a hotel raffle.

Here's a question for the thread.

How are this trolls comments significantly different from the many presumably non trollish and oh-so-valid remarks, comments, and questions about cultural appropriation fielded for these last 30 pages or so?
