Fun fact: in the revised fourth draft of A New Hope in 1976, the description for "Kessel Run" is put as follows:

"HAN: It's the ship that made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs.

[Ben reacts to Solo's stupid attempt to impress them with obvious misinformation.]"

So it originally didn't even happen, or maybe didn't happen in under 12 parsecs

They could have hired George Lucas, I mean he has experience directing SW. But I guess what seems to me is that Michael Bay is constantly around the corner to direct this.

Really, I wonder how it would look like if they actually hired Bay to do one of those movies? First there would be immense salvo of outpouring negativity of people denouncing to watch SW movies anymore. Then second wave of Disney payed apologist on YT and online articles defending Sony... uh, I mean Disney and coming up with offense that includes calling people haters; that Michael Bay is not such a bad director; that people should give it a chance and not have "prejudices"... So in a way hiring Bay would create many jobs.

I really do think it is a generational thing and really nothing more. They would not keep making them if the franchise wasn't making money.

It is no different to me than hating Sean Connery as Bond while others liked him, and me liking Moore. Even with those some were better than others sure, but again, it is still a business and they don't invest in long term losses.

I have no desire to see it even if the reviews come out as fantastic. I am simply stuck on the original 3 for a variety of reasons. Much of it as to do with movies in general relying too much on CG. I cant get into a movie if it looks too much like a video game.

I simply am having a laugh about Ron's acting history mixing it with the imagery of si fi.


I'm quite happy to take in Episode 8 on its own merits without making comparisons. I enjoyed Episode 7, Mary Sue Strikes Back .. or something like that. I'm there to be entertained. If there is any grumbling to be done I'll just wait until the film making lousiness rips the joy out of my cold dead heart. Until then I expect to be transported.

That'll be the fun thing they have to reconcile. Either Han Solo was really bullshitting when he said that, or maybe it can be explained by a race going around a black hole in which a shorter distance indicated a more daring trajectory. Either way, 12 parsecs can only be flown using a hyperdrive, and I don't know how that would be integrated into a race. I hope they are a bit smart and creative about it.
