Maybe I'm mixing up my histories, but isn't it kind of the same thing that triggered the French Revolution and the poor were taking back everything from the rich who were responsible for their miseries and deaths from poverty for centuries? I assumed this was the same thing, where if I was in the revolutionaries' shoes, I'd gut the lot of them myself, children and all, for living the good life for so long at the expense of myself and my fellow peasants; I'd probably be laughing my fucking ass off while I did it since who would believe justice would ever be brought to these people who were always untouchable? I've lived way too long in shitty poverty to think that anyone in that kind of privileged position is still able to be called human so maybe I'm more jaded than the average proletariat, but, fuck, man, what could anyone really say in their defense when we see what the inequality they enforce does all over the world?
If this wasn't the case with them, and the people were just pissed and taking their anger out on an easy target, okay, tragic. But I find it hard to believe anyone in a position of power like that doesn't have it coming.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

Essentially correct. As in France, the Russian Orthodox church was a significant contributing factor to the oppression of the poor.
Sorry, but if you'd gut children because being poor sucks and they just happened to be born rich, you're not worth the air you breathe. Now, you're probably being hyperbolic, which is understandable. Poverty is tough. If you're not, maybe see a psychiatrist?

Now, you're probably being hyperbolic, which is understandable. Poverty is tough. If you're not, maybe see a psychiatrist? Depends how old. And what method I'm using to do it; if I've got a minigun or rocket launcher trained on the family and they're all clustered together it's not like I'm not going out of my way to aim judiciously. But even if they did get spared, what then? Witnessing their family's execution, ending up in an orphanage in the same shitty poverty they had a few years' borrowed time against during their first few years of luxury, unlike the commoners beneath them, and stigmatized for life because of their name (if not actively targeted for more direct retaliation immediately or later)? Not really much more merciful (but then having gone through that kind of shit, I know more about it than the average person.) Granted I don't have anyone hunting me down because my family fucked over a whole country but prospects aren't exactly positive. Just doesn't seem to make much difference if you make a clean sweep of the scourge or not. At least not when you look at it critically.

Meh, I've done abject poverty. It's soul-sucking, but better than no life at all.
As for not offing the male children (or failing in the attempt), recall what happened to Don Ciccio . . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
Anastasia screamed in vain, Woo Woo , Woo Woo!
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!
Well maybe they didn't have to kill him, especially the kids. If you look a the the French revolution they also killed the whole family, but it didn't stop them to have monarchy again during Restoration. Where there's a will there is a way, so they found King's cousin and made him a king, but then he ran away when Napoleon showed up and so on.
But yeah I guess you have to kill the king because there will be enough of his supporters, but maybe they could just dethrone him, like Chinese did with Puyi, and let him live like common folk.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
