It’s just that so often we hear from theists, “that’s not scientifically possible. How? Where is the conclusive evidence?” But, when we turn the questions on to god’s mechanisms of action, “no idea; he’s just god, doin’ his god thang”, is a perfectly acceptable response.
Not saying that’s you, CL. But it is a frequent theme around here.

I think people here got the impression that I asked that question because I was trying to challenge atheists or be defient. Lol, I wasn't. That question was in direct response to the OP saying "it has been proven that the universe created itself." I had never heard of the universe "creating itself" and wasn't sure what this meant, which is why I asked about it. Apparently all he meant by that was the universe is eternal, which I indeed had heard of before, I just had never heard it put that way before (that it created itself). Anyway, I have no problem with that theory. Whateverist said it best a few posts up. "Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

No, I honestly just wanted clarification on what the heck the OP meant by "the universe created itself", lol. I think the reason why some theists may do that is because some atheists say there is no proof for God and so it is foolish for us to believe if there is no proof. So this is kind of their way of turning it around. I think when that happens, both sides are kind of doing the double standard thing.
