Poltergeist was about the only super natural movie I liked. The horror movies I liked were more slasher serial killer. I hated the Freddy series but loved the first 4 Friday The 13th, but they got really absurd after the first 4.

I hope they never do a remake of Jaws, because CG does not fool me. The scale mechanical shark in that back then when the movie was new was sharp, crisp and realistic and with the classic music I shit my pants. I hate going to a movie and thinking I should have an XBox controller.

See, I'm the opposite.

I hate slasher movies unless they're well made tongue-in-cheek.

I love a good supernatural movie that can actually get you on the edge of your seat (and those are few and far between).  The Poltergeist remake was actually pretty good.

But I'm still waiting for another good ghost movie that will give me goosebumps.  Something I can turn off all the lights and watch on a dark stormy night.

The paranormal activity movies weren't it.  Some episodes of Supernatural have been far better than "horror" movies.

Like I said when the first trailer came, I have high hopes that this one will be better than the 1991 miniseries. Not only does Seth Grahame-Smith and Cary "Season One of True Detective" Fukanaga give me confidence, but I suspect that this new version will give the horror more room to breathe. The previous version was a miniseries running a total of three hours. While most movies these days don't run all the way to three hours, it should be noted that the film is planned to be split into two films (one for the heroes as kids and another for them as adults), and I fully expect we'll find more creepy scenes in this version. Also, the standards of violence allowed on a film screen in 2017 and a network TV screen in 1991 are very different. It could end up sucking, but make no mistake, they have every reason and every opportunity to take this film and make it even better than the miniseries.

Even though the original It is many years old now, it still looks better then this. If it was a good movie to begin with, why bother remaking it? Are we really out of fresh ideas that we need to resort to destroying good movies and T.V series? (X-Files, Sailor moon, and Star Trek, those sick bastards who ruin everything. Make your own stuff JJ!) The film industry needs some new ideas and some new writers, remake and after remake is starting to irritate me. We're better then this, and we need to show it, save us Bill Murray, we need you.

Considering Bill was in the 2016 Ghostbusters, I don't think he's the savior you're looking for.

Why bother remaking it? Because the original novel is 1138 pages long and the movie is only 192 minutes long. Besides the graphic violence that wouldn't fly 27 years ago on TV, several elements were removed. Some of them were removed for obvious reasons, like the Losers Club all having sex with Beverly, but several crucial elements, including The Ritual of Chud, (in the novel, the only way It can be defeated), all the cosmic elements of the story, and several characters had to be removed. Maybe we might see more of those stuff in this version.

It also helps that the spider at the end looks like crap.

Really, if they really drop the ball with this one, they have no excuse.

I like horror movies. Looking forward to this. And Annabel 2.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Just found a news story: According to the BBFC, It Part 1 has a runtime of 135 minutes, 150% the length of Part 1 of the miniseries.

With everything I've seen in the trailer and the expanded runtime, there is literally no excuse for this movie to not be better than the miniseries.

Yeah, if it's half as good as the trailers, it's going to be epic. For me, the audio in the trailers has really driven it home. Production value is at a 10.

Guess I see why there are so many horror movies churned out every year. I never see any at the theatre but occasionally I catch one on the tele later. Oh why doesn't everyone share my tastes?
