Business leaders' "supporters" have an expectation of results in this life, so it makes a big difference.

Pastors and followers of wealth gospel certainly hedge any bets they may have place on the hereafter by demanding the good lord lodge deposits with them in the here and now.

The difference is parts of the business world actually has to occasionally create some value to buy their clients, where as pastors and congregations are satisfied with funds from pure pyramid schemes.

Not to hijack the thread, but it has always struck me how bloody far it is from where the LCs drop off the assault force and the beach. The cost on human life to make those beachheads is staggering, and yet it pales compared to the tens of millions it took to liberate the world from facism.

It sickens me that there are those in the country who would embrace the evil the free world overthrew in 1944-5. Fuck Nazis and fuck those who can't tell who the bad guys are here today.

2. The deal with the Saudi's was written by the Harper government . And the liberals were against it . But they have an air tight contract so a deals a deal . IIRC, the engineers were only able to blow three paths through the obstacles at Omaha (where that shot was taken) due to mislandings. Some coxwains refused to close in on the beach, and some boats got hung up on sand bars. And of the 32 amphibious tanks scheduled to land there, 27 sank after they were launched.

Every time I see shots from that landing -- or others, like Tarawa or Peleliu, or the airborne landings at Pegasus Bridge or Corregidor -- I find myself simply amazed by the brass balls captured on film. Those men were as brave as men get.
