I really just don't understand all this White-Nationalist bullshit lately. I don't understand the appeal. Maybe I'm just overthinking this. However, when I read about this my heart just broke on the inside. I really don't know why, it's just sad that people still have this disgusting mentality. And lets be real here, there is one person who has ignited this and made these people feel empowered.

When one have nothing to be proud about then one can turn to very basics, like skin color which is pathetic given that this isn't achievement. I wouldn't be surprised if majority of nationalist would be just failures seeking validation in "national glory".

Edit: As for question in title. I doubt that these types would ever go away, rather they will reappear always when situation will be dire or will be seen as such. After all baccilus never go away to (mis)quote Camus.

I find it ironic these White Nationalist types consider themselves to be Patriots. Yet, they tout around the Confederate Flag or even the Nazi flag. (The irony, we were at war with both)

I see nothing ironic in it if by patriotism one mean love for one country; one can love country past or love country so much to be in favor of eradicating those deemed undesirable. One can also think that enemis of his country had good ideas.

For sake of clarity I see nothing good in patriotism.

I've said this before. There will come a day (should we as a species survive long enough) when everyone will share the same race. But racism will survive even that event. We will all have the same basic skin color and features. But even the slightest differences will continue to allow people to divide us into groups of superior/inferior.

Evolution and selective pressure teaches us that we are all descended from those who were inclined to form groups (loners did not survive long enough spread their genes). But what I think we forget is that we are also all descended from those who were inclined to take the group they were in and motivate them to go find smaller groups and fight them and wipe them and their genes from the planet. We like forming groups and we like having enemies. In the genes I'm afraid.
