I think I didn't help too much either, LOL !!
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Edit Reason: clarification

There's a dearth of statues to actual southern heroes of the War of Secession, who helped free slaves and joined the fight against the perpetuation of slavery. If their statues aren't worth putting up, I don't see an appeal to history as a valid reason to keep the statues of those who tried to keep them enslaved displayed on public property. Let them be moved to a private museum or sold to a collector. The public should not have to support monuments to villains.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

So....calling for the removal of a statue and blowing up a statue as a unilateral act of fundy dictatorship, entirely the same...Neo?
Puff puff pass, man.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

One is done through legitimate political processes, the other is not. I leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out which is which.
The way to show monuments to the slave trade is in a museum in context. So don't destroy, them move them to somewhere where it is pointed out the evil they represent and how the US used to tolerate that sort of thing.
They need to be a warning from history, not part of everyday life. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.
The people who live in towns with Confederate "hero" statues are the people who are calling to have them removed. They don't want to look at them. They believe there are better figures to glorify.
The people who lived in Afghanistan didn't ask for one of the biggest, oldest religious statues in the world to be demolished. That was done by the Taliban, who were forcefully taking over the country. They were removing religious iconography so they could install their own religious system of law. I hope you can see that these two things are not equal at all. It's the same as people saying that protesting Nazis is the same as being a Nazi. RE: Leftists Purging History or Al Queda in America

Bullshitting liar Chad Wooters pulls bullshitting lies out his arse again.
You know only for a slight philosophical difference over your shared imaginary friend, you and al-qaeda'd be perfect for each other. The narrowminded bigotry is an exact match.

Ah yes, saying "This certain thing should be changed!" is identical to a literal terrorist organization blowing shit up.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

You can keep it in a museum, but we should be venerating more enlightened people than that. Martin Luther King was a plagiarizer and adulterer. Perhaps we shouldn't venerate intellectual piracy and sexual immorality either. |
