I'm in the middle of the third one, "Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay" and I'm still having a good time. Looking to discuss it with anyone else who has read or is reading it. Unlike George Martin who can take a decade to hatch a new book, this lady (if it is a lady since 'Elena Ferrante' is a pen name and the real author is unknown) has cranked out one a year from 2012 to 2015. Readers can relax knowing the complete story will be available.
But what is it about? Nothing much. A friendship between two women. One brilliant, one accomplished. A long view of two lives just slightly older than myself, from childhood to old age coming out of a timeless extreme of poverty into a modern age where possibilities begin to exist. Definitely more about character development than plot line. An exquisite waste of time.
The first is this one. I'm still making up my mind which is the brilliant friend.
