I honestly don't think that Trump even knew that Puerto Rico was an American territory, whose people are American citizens, until maybe 24-36 hours ago. The guy is an idiot.
EDIT: Oh, and, the media is in it for viewers/clicks. The spat with the NFL is more popular because it ties into people's political outrage on both sides, and thus drives up ratings.
