I need some good first date questions

Whenever I start getting hit with a bunch of questions, it starts to feel like a test, my answers get short, and the conversation sputters. Most annoying questions are "what kind of music do you like?"  and "What do you do for fun?".

Indeed, and the more natural the introduction to the topic, the better. It should be a conversation, not an interview.

Best line you can use on a first date, male or female is, " I WILL NOT BE IGNORED!"

What?

Nah, I did on purpose and then claimed freudian. Seemed to work.

A first date for me is mostly to figure out if I'm interested enough for a 2nd date. It's hard to decide when you hear or say the same cliché questions over and over again. After awhile, everyone starts to sound the same. Having some interesting topics to talk about is a plus.

I would recommend feeling him (or her?) out on a couple of topics of interest to you. Casually of course.

Could be a field, I used to like to explore psychology. But a book or movie that you found meaningful could work as well. I used to bring up essential differences between the sexes as something of long time interest to me. What if anything is there that isn't simply a cultural artifact? You might just find out something about the lens through which your date will see you.

Whatever you pick, say something about what interests you in regard to the topic and look to see how he responds. He doesn't have to be interested in everything you are, but some overlap is nice. You can decide if his reaction to the topic is interesting to you or not.

Remember, it is just as important to put out enough about yourself as it is to find out more about him. If there is anything about you which is a deal breaker for him, the sooner you find out the sooner you both can move on.

So my question to you, MH, is.... when you first attempted to type "Freudian slip" but you accidentally misspelled "Freudian"... was that some sort of Freudian slip?

Nope, just ignor-ants.

And did you dispose of the remains properly?

I got ghosted! I never heard from the guy again and we didn't meet up. Sad
Maybe he's a member here and this thread scared him off...

I'm meeting someone else for lunch tomorrow (and Monday). And they haven't ghosted me (yet lol).
So I'll pull out a few interesting questions tomorrow and/ or Monday.
