Do you ever get this feeling whilst in bed?

This is Levar Burton's version:

I see nothing, which is certainly making me sleepy.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Either your head is uncomfortable, or you need to use the washroom, maybe the temperature is off. You just can't find a "comfy" position. You look at the clock, suddenly it's 1:00 a.m. "I can still get 4-5 hours if I sleep now", you say to yourself. Still no luck. You notice the fact that it's getting later, and maybe you managed to get an hour or two of really poor quality sleep without realizing it, still, you aren't really comfortable. Then, you look at the clock, or your alarm goes off, and you realize you need to get up in the next five minutes. SUDDENLY, every position you assume yourself to feels comfortable! You lie there, and you think to yourself, WHY? Why couldn't I have felt like this when I went to bed at 11:00 last night?

Sure, but that could be some underlying anxiety you are not aware of. The worst for me was when my mom had a major doctor's appointment or surgery. But when I was younger, tests in school, or a new job.

Eating at the wrong food at the wrong time of night can also keep you up.

Vodka works for me. Or rum. Or scotch. Or a cocktail of vodka, rum and scotch. Optional Brasso chaser.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

If I'm having a rough toss-and-turn-can't-sleep night, sometimes I force myself to get out of bed and go to the kitchen for a mug of warm milk and something light, like bread and butter.

On the weekends, if I don't have to be anywhere in the morning I just stay up till I am tired.

If it's actual physical pain like an achy knee that's keeping me awake, a combination of hot bath + medication + extra pillows helps.

No because I never have a problem getting to sleep unless I'm in severe physical pain. I am the master of sleeping. The secret is once you are in bed... don't bother trying.

But I do have problems motivating myself to bother even getting into bed in order to not bothering trying to get to sleep when I'm hyper or feel that my day is 'incomplete'.

Yeah, I do. A cocktail of Tylenol and Motrin, along with gabapentin (Rx) works for me most of the time The latter I only need because of a medical condition.
