Has anyone here actually driven safer because they saw a BABY ON BOARD sign on a car? For a while I've thought about getting a HUMAN ON BOARD sign. Maybe that will make people drive more cautious around me.

I don't know how effective they are but to be serious for a second: They have good intentions anyway. And who knows maybe they do work a little bit for some people.

True, HUMAN ON BOARD should make people care just as much. But the fact is it doesn't. Sure, adult humans are just as important as baby humans and it's equally important to be careful when driving around them too. But what people ought to care about and what people actually care about are two different things. And being effective is important.

And it hardly does any harm... it's good intentions at worst and slightly helpful at best. Not bad really. Not against the signs, I think they're either a neutral thing or a good thing. Sure they're super cheesy and cringey and make me want to puke... and George Carlin's stand up on the matter is hilarious. But that's irrelevant really if we're actually going to be serious for a second.

I had a sign made for a pregnant friend in the same style which read "Baby in Boot".

That would be "trunk" for our American allies.

She used it, knowing my sense of humour, but her partner wasn't amused.

The idea is that unless it's a bad wreck adults and older children should be able to get out themselves. Infants in car seats cannot.
