A few hardcore Christians actually do think the act of drinking the water in some of the holiest sites (most famous is Lourdes where mary is said to have appeared) possesses some healing power, but even then it's not the water itself that is magic, it is the act of drinking it, being in communion with the Virgin Mary, that carries a significance.

Having family members that have been to Lourdes I can assure you that that is not the case. They really see that the water has special powers, one even said she had the bottle of Lourdes water for 3 years after her pilgrimage and no Algae has started growing in it proving it is special water. And these are people that I agree with you on pretty much every other topic are completely rational.

that's true, but again the water is holy because it is from Lourdes. I'm not sure how to explain this right, but its "powers" come from what Lourdes represents, but it does not in itself contain "magic molecules". It's power is not physical, it is spiritual, that's the way they see it.
