Sexism. The making of a misogynist.

Sexism. The making of a misogynist.
Quote:....over time I began to develop a wary distrustful posture toward women. I still dated them, but I had become so conditioned to expect hatred from them that I simply accepted it as part of the price I had to pay in order to be involved with one. My desire for a relationship was still strong, but was opposed by a distrust and unwillingness to let someone who hated me get the upper hand over me. Thus, in my mind the concept of "commitment" became one and the same as "trapped in a relationship with someone who hates me." I am indeed one of those men who "won't make a commitment."

RE: Sexism. The making of a misogynist.
If I had time/patients I would more then just skim it, this guy (you?) seemed to have gone through a lot of crap with cunts (lol I said cunts) . and at this point I'm probably just going to ramble. Of course we had a short discussion when I asked you if you were really a misogynist. And you said that you distrust women. I don't consider that misogyny, nor do I consider it wrong. I also don't consider them feminists, but maybe I should maybe there should be a different word to use in attempt to make everyone equal. I have known/heard of some pretty terrible women. My dorm-mates were watching Maury downstairs and there was this one story where the woman had sex with several men while engaged to this guy and after it was said that the kid was his, the audience told him to kiss her feet. I know it was just Maury, but still seemed terrible to me.
I distrust men, because of the stereotype of they just want to get in your pants and of the times I have seen this stereotype played out. Of course not all guys are like that.
and I read that bit about doors. I don't think I'd like it if a guy hurried up to hold a door for me, unless it looked like I needed help. otherwise I would feel like he was doing it just because I'm female. (lol I spelled demale at first) I wouldn't shout or kick, I'd probably still try to be nice about it, but I might have an angry face. one day last year my boyfriend and I were entering a building with a breezeway and there was an old man behind us. I got one door my boyfriend got the other. the man walked past my date without a second though, it seemed. but when he got to me, he insisted I go in first. It seemed to me clear that he did that because I'm female.
Also directions- my boyfriend is far more likely to ask then me. one day he was like "I'll ask the people in this gas station." and I'm like "No! let's just call my brother or something." or that might be because I'm shy, regardless. that is untrue to assume ALL guys are like that, even if MOST are. and I had a guy ask for directions while I was out on a walk. of course, I think I might have a few stereotypical male traits. I won't read the instruction book unless I need to. I won't ask for directions. I don't know if video games count. maybe that's it. maybe I just pretend to be more manly. either to prove that I can or because I don't like most women stereotypes. I do sew though.

holy jebus, I did ramble for a bit. Well, if I man-hate I probably also female-hate too. I don't think I do either, but if I do hopefully it's both. I'm sorry if I've been hating on a sex. I mean I say stereotypical things about sexs/people/whatever, but I usually don't mean it in a terribly bad way. mostly I try to say it jokily. One of my female friends here will, when we are out to eat, say "Millie, come on let's go to the bathroom." if one of the guys makes a comment I will say "it's because we are female we must go hang out in the bathroom in groups."

That's it, I can't ramble any more I must go.

also, random question, what does the word 'guy' me to you guys? unless I say guys as in " a group of people (male and/or female)" I think of guy as in a young man like teen, 20s, probably 30s when I get older. maybe I think of 'guy' as a man around my age. I wish there was something I considered a female equivalent besides "gal" which really seems to me like a cowgirl. I never know how I should refer to a female in terms of girl or woman my own age. I don't want to call them girl, because it seems too childish, but woman seems too mature. huh, oh, well, I need to stop lying.

but I got to stop typing! sorry for my long ramble!

By "guys" I mean to address absolutely everyone. I have to check that where there are people who will interpret it differently.

Seriously? You're implying he's a racist just because he, very justifiably in my opinion, has a distrust of women?

I meant just as singular "guy" like "I met this guy once..." guys just means a group of people, to me anyway.

I really have no opinion on this subject..... people generally are big enough assholes without looking for categories of assholiness.... but H. L. Mencken had the following observation.

Quote:Misogynist: A man who hates women as much as women hate one another.

My girlfriend (we are about the same age as you) calls other females chicks, chicas or bitches depending if she likes them or not.

@Dotard: I know where you are coming from. I too have known some females that are scum & were caricatures of every bad gyno-stereotype you can think of. I've also been in some horrible relationships, thru little fault of my own, but there are good ones out there.
