Both of my parents were solid.

It's complicated.
Mom is less abusive. Dad has influenced me more. Both of them meant well.

My mom and dad are such different people it's a continuing source of wonder they managed to get together long enough to produce me.
I like (and love) them both, but there's no question that Dad is the more entertaining one to be around, at least before the 7th beer. Mom is definitely the more solid of the two when it comes to the practical stuff. I could do without her endless cat stories, though.

I used to tell people I was raised in a single parent household. The Y-donor was there, but it was best to avoid him.
