Mom is 102!

Mom is 102!
We celebrated my mother's 102nd birthday last week. My sister baked a carrot cake, Mom's favorite. Mom is getting rather frail now and she will probably have to go into a nursing home in a few months. She can no longer play Mahjong due to failing eyesight. She has lived a long prosperous life, having outlived all the friends and relatives she grew up with.  Heart

That's amazing! Very glad you still have her and she has family who obviously love her dearly.

Congratulations to your mom. I must say that I never met a person who is 100 years young or over.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That's a big wow; good for you. You are very lucky to have had her in your life for so long.

May she have many more.

RE: Mom is 102!
I went to Mom's for lunch last Monday. She was alert and talkative during the meal, but wanted to take a nap afterward. My brother, sister and I played our usual Mahjong game. I had to leave around mid-afternoon because my hands were starting to hurt and my absorbent briefs needed changing. My sister had to leave early too because her husband is in the hospital.

Congrats to having a strong blood line. One of my grandmothers is still alive. Documentation is questionable but we generally claim her to be 108. She was born in Ireland centuries ago.

RE: Mom is 102!
Mom is now in a nursing home in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She had some anxieties about being there at first, but now seems to be completely enjoying her surroundings. My brother and I visited her last Monday and she was in good spirits. We'll be there again next Monday, along with our sister.
