Thanks.  After perusing that thread a bit, it appears that some of the members there are more interested in confirming stereotypes and preconceptions rather than challenging them and possibly evolving beyond their present way of thinking.  Hence, I cannot blame you for not participating much in that thread.

I read on looking for the screams of protest but none came. Afaics, that thread wouldn't be out of place here, well apart from the ribaldry. And on that note I'm pretty sure the reason debate's here, quickly descend into screaming matches is due to the fact that we have so very few genuine theists to debate with. I can count on half a hand those genuinely interested in honest debate. The rest, are cunts.

The major problem, I found, with the religious forum was that it catered too much to oversensitive religious people.  

Religious people can post all the nonsense they want, but attempt to say anything negative about religious people and WHAM.

Forums are not a democracy and if they wish to protect their delicate beliefs from trolls like us who have no respect for their beliefs, then they are entitled to.

Remember, there's lots of mental gymnastics going on there.... We as atheists offer nothing.
They don't need or want to be told that their blind faith is just that and goes against reality.
Why would they. It's their sanctity.

The thing is, a religious forum is a place for people to talk about their faith, ask questions about it, get faith based advice, etc. They actually have something of substance to talk about: their faith. Having a bunch of people join who are going to do nothing but bash the faith in a trolly, condecending, hateful sort of way is counter productive to the purpose/subject of the forum. Its going to bring down the quality of the forum, so they need to set tighter rules and boundaries to keep that from happening.  

So while most religious forums allow atheists to participate in discussion, voice disagreement, and have debates in a genuine and productive way, I can understand why they won't allow a bunch of people who aren't going to be respectful about it.

Since atheism isnt a "thing" like religion is (its actually a non thing lol), then it makes sense for atheist forums to be much more relaxed about these sorts of rules. It's not like atheists are going to talk about atheism, ask questions about atheism, and give atheist based advice, since atheism is literally just lack of belief and nothing more. Thats why this forum is filled with games, "whats up with you today" type threads, and other pointless threads that are just little jokes or w/e. If anything, having theists in here actually gives people more things of substance to talk about.

Oh bollocks. I've been on the "Reasonable Faith" forum, and the perennial topic of most threads is atheist bashing. I've been on other religious forums as well, and they all endorse a double standard. It's okay to criticize atheism, but heaven forbid you should criticize religion. The religious have an unending sense of butthurt.
