I hope you don't include me in the group of 'men'! I'm way too bizarre to fit into any category!

Bad alone:

I was a good looking popular kid and good at all sports and a top student. The girls would constantly chase me which annoyed me because of what they did to me when they caught me! I had no capacity to understand them, so I ran, and ran. One Sunday, I awoke to about a dozen little girls in my front yard waiting for me to come out. My mother gave them all pencil and paper to write notes and she has kept them.

One day I was trying to play with my friends when the girls showed up. We ran separately and met at an abandoned house in a forest. We crawled into the attic space to hide. There we found bullet making equipment. We took the packs of black powder and got ahold of some matches and made sparkley things.

We then made the big one but, it did not work. When I went to investigate it, it exploded in my face. The eyewitnesses said it blew me about 15ft in the air. That device blew the shoes and socks off my feet and started a fire. I was left for dead.

One kid behind me was also badly burned and his bother carried him home and then he came back for me. I came-to and he helped me out of the forest. Then all the neighbor moms came to help. My shirt was still on fire when they cut it off.

I was 9rs old, blind and disfigured beyond recognition.

I eventually got most of my sight back. I went through 6yrs of reconstruction surgery.

For those 6yrs I was completely ostracized by my peers. Of all the things and thoughts I had to go through. That part still makes me cry. I am in tears.

Oop, missed the part where he offed himself. NVM

Since it had happened for so long and I was 'active' with my boyfriend there was no solid proof and he said she said wasn't enough so the law couldn't do anything. They took a bunch of stuff in for evidence that could have his dna on but it had come back negative. The only reason the cops believed me was because they took my laptop and found my diary where I kept accounts of things and the key strokes matched the dates so it was obvious that I was writing in it when I said I was and it had been for years. They looked at me and said they believed me but could do nothing about it, they were closing the case. The detective actually said "I knew he was guilty." When I told her he killed himself.

Quite a fall from grace you had there, going from sought after to ostracized.  Maybe that contributed to your remaining as studious as you were for so long.  Do you think it had an influence on how important religion was/is for you?

This has turned into the most important thread I've ever started.

Not the best, that involved sexually deviant wombats and the Harlem Globetrotters.

Yes, Jesus was/is my bestest friend. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the zOE-Life". I have spent my whole life trying to understand His way, truth and promised life. I have lived it to the fullest measure and there is no end to her! My entire life has been only extremes since the beginning with only a few moments rest in between. But I wouldn't have any other way: it's so much fun! Being blind sucks royal. Being ostracized, teased, playing jokes on the blind kid sucks royal!

Being told my eyebrows and eyelashes would not grow back--they did. Being told I could never drive a car--I've been licensed to drive since 16. Being told I could never join the armed forces--yet, I am a USMC infantry veteran.

Being homeless also sucks royal! Being ostracized and accused of "sin" by your church for being homeless sucks royal I was homeless for 3yrs before I spent the next 4yrs surfing in my backyard, fishing from my hammock living on the oceanfront of the North shore of Maui HI(a sweet vindication to my church)--waaaaaaay beyond dreams for a stupid homeless surfer in CA, who's only hope is God. Everyday praying for a cup of coffee, a beer and a cigarette!

Then becoming rich, retiring at 48 and travelling the world for 9yrs drinking lattes in Rome, Beer in Belgium and smoking fine cigars! Writing a book! It's a fucking joke but it is true! God has a sense of humor and apparently I'm the Butt!

So how exactly did you do the incantation prayer that brought that about?  Would you actually have to believe and stuff to make it work?  I am willing to burn stuff to offer up.

I was once drunk off my ass in Baja surfing the point at K38 when I threw one of my surfboards into the campfire fire as an offering to the gods for a big swell. It didn't work.

Anyway, "prayer" is a stupid word that has developed into the theologic doctrine of "How to Pray". There are several Greek words translated as "prayer/pray" or, associated with it. Therefore, they have taken specific words and turned then into a generalization blanket called "The Doctrine of Prayer". Every pastor of every church hates to teach "prayer" because the study of it will give them headaches! Yet, they need only get rid of the word "prayer'.

The Greek words have to do with communication including ask, beg such as the middle French, "I pray thee, give me..." True prayer then is nothing more then a communication with a Divine being(proseuchomai). There is no right or, wrong way to pray in spite what the clergy says. The only true wrong way then to "pray", is not to pray(communicate with a Divine being).

The clergy given, "How To Pray so that your 'prayers' do not bounce off the ceiling", is silly!

I'll give some of the Greek words and their meaning. This is from my book:

aiteO

“Asking/begging” in Colossians 1:9, is the Greek verb aiteO(not translated as “prayer” but has been doctrinally associated with it) which means: to ask for something to be given. The noun aitEma means: the thing asked for which has an effect. This verb is in the middle voice expressing a desire for the things listed in the verses that follow, to the benefit of the Colossians.

deEsis

Another Greek noun sometimes translated as “prayer” is deEsis and means: a petition, request, entreaty for someone in need or, for something needed. Its verb form is deomai and is usually translated “pray”. It can be directed toward God or man.

Hyper-Literal: Nothing(object of the verb) be!-you-all-anxious(the verb) but-rather in everything to-thee toward-for-wish(proseuchE) and-also to-thee petition(deEsis) with well-favor thee-all things-asked-for-effects(aitEmata, neuter) of-you-all be!-it-being-made-known toward thee God. Phil 4:6

enteuxis

Side by Side: for it(food) is(-being) sanctified(purified, separating a class from a class) by(through) means of [the]word(intellect) of God and(-also) prayer(enteuxis). 1 Tim 4:5 NASB

enteuxis is a noun which means: a falling in with, meeting with, an interview, a coming together; to visit, converse or for any other cause. It only occurs twice in the NT and only by Paul and only in 1st Timothy.

In its verb form, it is the prefixed preposition en(in) + tugchanO(hit the mark). tugchanO is the opposite of hamartia(miss the mark, usually translated “sin”). Now, how we came from entugchanO(verb) to enteuxis(noun) to the English word “prayer” is beyond me!

In context, Paul is referring to the gathering together of people (enteuxis) for a special meal(separating a class from a class) of good food and poignant conversation concerning the character and nature of God’s word. Sounds like a heavenly party! End of Quote.

If you want to communicate with God, go for it! There are no rules!

Also, "In Jesus Name" is stupid because the Greek word translated as "name" means: fame. All that, that fame is, and represents. We should always ask for things that are according to His fame. And not just give the bible lip service!

And also, the transliterated word amEn means: so-be-it!

When Jesus taught the disciples how to "pray", and when Jesus prayed, He only used the imperative mood of command: "Give! us this day..." He never said any of that "if it be your will" crap!

The most alone? Solo backpacking in the wilderness. I could go days without seeing another person, longer without talking to one.

The loneliest? When I was with my ex-wife after our relationship went south, corresponding with an extended period of mental illness.
