Where were you when 9/11 happened?

Driving the car pool vehicle on the 405 freeway passing LAX airport. The tall building that was called the Ivory Tower at my company was vacated as a precaution until the threat was understood.

I was just waking up on the west coast when the first news reports started.
After the first tower fell, I remember thinking "At least one of the towers is still standing". -Teresa

I feel like I've answered this question 3 times on the forum already but once more won't hurt. I was in a bass guitar lesson in a music college. My teacher read from a text what had happened but it didn't sink in for anyone because this was before the age of smart phones and video messages. I was thinking some sort of little plane hit a radio tower or something until I got home and saw these two giant sky scrapers coming down on TV. Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason. 
When I saw the second plane hit I turned to the people around me and said "Where were you the day the war started?" That really sank it home to them.

San Diego area , SoCal. I worked as home health nurse with people on ventilators. I was driving to a clients home listening to the Howard Stern show as the attacks were happening. I walked into my clients home and said "Turn on the television". We watched the towers fall.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!
On the farm, preparing for harvest.
Had a TV in the workshop and had the morning news on. I saw the replay of the first tower hot, the entire crew was watching when the second plane hit. Grim day on the farm . . . The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
I was at the pentagon, West wing, room 53 controlling the drones.
Oh shit, did I say that out loud?

it's 11/9 to us not from the us of murica 
I learned about 9/11 from IRC. I sat down and started chatting and everyone was talking about it. So I turned on the news and marveled at the footage.
